RDS : ERROR 2003 (HY000): Can’t connect to MySQL server (10060)

When a MySQL-client tries to connect to mysql server over AWS cloud, mysql-server sends back an error¬† “RDS : ERROR 2003 (HY000): Can’t connect to MySQL server (10060)” .¬†This error states that the inbound/outbound traffic from AWS instance is not reachable to the current host where you are running your MySQL-client. AWS – Disconnected : No supported authentication methods available (server sent :publickey)

When you launches an instance in AWS, you need Private key to connect that instance to your SSH client. And when you download private key from AWS and try to register this .pem file in PuTTy or Filezilla both breaks your connection. PuTTy sends back an error message “AWS – Disconnected : No supported authentication methods available (server sent :publickey)” why?

So there can be multiple reasons like you are using a wrong DNS name, IP address or wrong login credentials for your instance. But the common case behind this error is private key file format. [Read more…]
