JHipster Installation steps

In continuation to our previous article this article contains complete “Jhipster Installation steps”. We will create a simple project using JHipster and at the end you will get to know how “JHipster” makes everything easier in application development. Before creating JHipster application you will need to download the softwares specified in the steps below. And I am also assuming that you already using Java8.

Prerequisite for JHipster

  1. Install node.js from NodeJS website.
  2. Install Yarn from the Yarn website.
  3. Install Bower by executing this command :  yarn global add bower.
  4. Install Gulp by executing this command : yarn global add gulp-cli.
  5. In order to use the JHipster marketplace, following command needs to be executed on the command line to install yeoman: yarn global add yo.
  6. Now install JHipster by following command: yarn global add generator-jhipster.

JHipster Installation Steps

  1. After executing above command, it’s time now to create our own JHipster application. Now create any folder in which you want to create your application.
  2. Navigate to the created folder and execute the following command on command line :jhipster.
  3. You will see set of questions which you need to answer in order to help JHipster know what are your requirements for the application. In the below screenshot, you can see what options we have selected but of course you can change it according to your needs.  JHipster-ease2code.com
  4. )After answering all the questions, JHipster will automatically create java files and angular files. There after Yarn will install required dependencies and you will get application creation success message on the command line as shown in the below screenshot. Jhipster-setup-success-ease2code
  5. Execute the command mvnw(For Windows) to start the Spring Boot Application. It will take time to complete because Maven will download dependencies. You will get the success message after the application is started as given in the below screenshot. ease2code-Jhipster
  6. ) Enter URL http://localhost:8080 in the browser and you will get the screen specified in the screenshot. So now you are ready to play with your JHipster application. Jhipster-welcome-page-ease2code
  7. In order to see how the project structure looks like, you can also import the created JHipster project in your IDE and you will be able to see that JHipster has already created lot of files specific to Spring and Angular.
